According to Arthur C. Clarke any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Keeping this in mind, how can we create and then in turn understand new advanced objects? How does objects augmented with electronic sensing capabilities require us to develop new intuitions or 'naive' understandings about both the resulting hybrid-object and the specific affordances of a sensor itself? Is it possible to design with these understandings in mind? Can we use a process of 'making strange' to create a state of enchantment and engagement with our technological/magical desires? If we leave an empty space where normally a ready-made experience narrative and functionality would reside, can we fill it with magical thinking?
